Mile End Meadow is a somewhat secluded greenspace, surrounded by houses and flats, having only a narrow passage off Mile End Lane as an entrance. It was originally a recreation ground, but is now rough grass with trees and bushes.

The recently formed Friends group organised a survey of local residents. The main improvements that people wanted were:  more wildflowers, orchard, then seating and more trees.

There was general interest in biodiversity.

We then held a public meeting with the Parks Dept. and the Nature Officer, and since then have planted wildflowers and fruit trees, had picnics and games on the meadow, as well as raking the mowings.

We are a friendly informal group, who would like the local community to enjoy their local green space and help to care for it. Please contact us if you'd like to be involved or make suggestions.
